The Kingdom of Kush was a kingdom in the fertile lands bordering the Nile River that dates back to more than 1,000 years B.C. The kingdom invaded Egypt around 800 B.C. and ruled there for nearly 200 years before being displaced by the Assyrians. However, during this time, they expanded their empire to encompass both the Nile banks and up into what is now Saudi Arabia. Today, Egypt is most closely associated with the Nile.
