Rate, Ratio And Proportional Reasoning
In math class, students learn about the rate, ratio, and proportional reasoning. The rate includes how much of something is done or paid for each time or amount. For example, a rate could be a hotel rate where people pay $100 per night. Then students work on math problems to determine how much it would cost for several nights. The ratio is a comparison of two numbers. Other issues may be worked out if you have a ratio. For instance, a ratio could be 6:2, which means six things for every two of something. Another term related to this is proportional reasoning, which includes a ratio.
