Lions are considered to be one of five big cats in the Panthera genus and a member of the family Felidae. Males live longer than 10 to 14 years, as their injuries sustain from a continuous fight with rival males that greatly reduce their longevity in the wild. They can live more than 20 years. They typically inhabit savanna and grassland, although they may take to bush and the forest if they are captive. The Lions are unusually social compared to other cats.
