Life on the Oregon Trail was difficult, they only stopped to eat, they had to cook their meals over open fire, which was hard to start, wind was blowing sand into their faces as they ate. They slept on the floor, and even when it rained, they had to manage through the mud. Travelers also had to risk drowning when they crossed rivers, during the summer, the water dried up and people were dehydrated. In addition, sicknesses and illnesses harmed a lot of the people.
